In the early 1980s the Company was approved by the City of Baltimore as the developer and general contractor in the acquisition, development and renovation of forty four townhouses in Baltimore, Maryland. The substantial rehabilitation of the three city blocks was an urban renewal project under the homesteading act and included significant structural repairs and all new systems. The total project cost exceeded $3 million.
Cooper Wagon Factory
In the mid-1980s WJS&A was selected as the fee developer and general contractor for the adaptive reuse of a 45,000 square foot factory in Dubuque, Iowa. The five story building was converted to a mixed use development with residential apartments on the upper floors and retail on the ground floor. The total project cost was in excess of $5 million.
Slidell Downtown Revitalization
During the late 1980s the Company was hired by the city of Slidell, Louisiana to engineer a comprehensive downtown revitalization plan. Over a five year period the city implemented the plan, executing upon the Company’s market sensitivity examination, feasibility analysis, highest and best use study, and design engineering. WJS&A consulted on all aspects of the $8 million revitalization.
